Welcome to the Government Office for the East of England

'Transforming lives, transforming places - creating sustainable communities'

Welcome to our website. Here you will find information about how the Government Office for the East of England joins up the work of twelve central Government departments across the region.

GO-East works in three key ways:

  • by strengthening national policy through our work with Whitehall, so that Government develops policy and programmes which will work on the ground
  • by ensuring regional partners work together effectively, and join-up delivery against the East of England’s priorities, and in a way that is accountable, efficient and sustainable
  • by helping to deliver high quality services to residents, through supporting and challenging local partnerships

Our purpose is to transform the way central government relates to places by working with partners in the public, private and third sector to put Government policy into practice at a regional and local level. In turn we take challenges back to Whitehall to ensure the region’s voice is heard at the heart of Government.
