The GO-East Strategy Unit works with internal colleagues and external partners to disseminate information and guidance about sustainable development. The Unit works particularly closely with the East of England Regional Assembly, the East of England Development Agency and the Sustainable Development Round Table, the region's independent champion body for Sustainable Development.
The Strategy Unit promotes understanding of sustainable development principles, working with a wide range of partners throughout the region, encouraging them to embed sustainability into their work.
We developed and run a programme of 'bite-size' seminars called Linking Thinking, held at lunchtime and opened to both staff and external partners. These provide an opportunity for presentations, discussions and case studies on new policies or topical issues which are pertinent to the region. Recent sessions have included: the Olympic effect on the East of England; the role of regional cities as sustainable economic drivers; and the provision of accommodation for Gypsies and Travellers in the region.
