Transport
GO-East is working to deliver the Department for Transport’s vision of a sustainable transport system in the East of England. This is being progressed through the Department’s Delivering a Sustainable Transport system strategy published in November 2008. We advise local authorities on the production and delivery of their Local Transport Plans, and with other regional partners, such as the Regional Assembly and Development Agency, we help support the future development of the region.
Transport impacts on everyone's lives. Improving the transport system and its operation is a critical element in the Government’s economic, social and environmental agenda. Better access to jobs and services, particularly for those most in need, is a priority shared between local and central government, and a core aspect of Government Office work.

We work with local and regional organisations such as the East of England
Regional Assembly (EERA) and the East of England Development Agency (EEDA) to
promote an efficient and integrated transport system. We work with other
partners on cycling, walking, promoting travel plans, the Safe Routes to School
initiative, freight issues, airports, rail services and buses.
